Scenario: customer needs to connect a DT Series Data Logger to a FlexDAQ via RSTAR L900 RTU/ Node and DT Logger  Host Software.

Solution: follow the steps in the guide below to do this job.

First, connect the PC running DT Logger Host Software to DT Series Data Logger by a mini–USB Cable.

Open the DT Logger Host software, it scans and detects the DT Series Data Logger.

When no device is connected, the Status shows “Disconnected X” in Red color.

Once it is recognized and connected, the Status shows ‘USB Connected V‘ in Green color. Also, the corresponding data logger type connected will turn green.

Browse to ‘Connections Tab’, select RSTAR option and press on ‘Wireless Settings’ to go into the RSTAR Setup Menu.

Click on the Sync button, if it is showing Sync failed in red, the RSTAR network is not setup correctly and no communication is established.

To edit the L900 RSTAR RTU settings, press ‘Enable Edit’ and enter ‘coq’ as the Password dialog pops up.

Enter the L900 RSTAR RTU’s details from the sticker in the FlexDAQ box, usually in proximity of the L900 RSTAR RTU and press ‘Update Logger’ to send the settings to the L900 RSTAR Node in the DT Logger.

RTU Serial Num are the SH and SL

RTU Data ID is the DT Logger S/N

DO NOT USE THE RTU SN ON THE RTU LABEL

RTU Network ID is RTU ID

(For the 1st DT Logger, the password “coq” is required to enable editing the RTU Settings but it is not required if you edit more than one DT Logger after the 1st one)

To set the RTU Network ID, press ‘Advanced’ button to bring up the settings menu.

Press the button ‘Query Logger’ and it shows “Query successful” after it read all the parameters.

Compare the RTU Network ID from the sticker associated with the L900 RSTAR RTU with the RTU Network ID shown on the dialog box. If they are identical, the system is now already set up properly to communicate.

However, if they are different, enter the right one from the sticker and press the button ‘Upload to Logger’ to update the new RTU Network ID to enable the L900 RSTAR Node to find and communicate with the L900 RSTAR RTU.

If everything is correct, it will show “Update successfully”, press ‘Exit’ button to return to the previous menu.

Try to see if they are connected by pressing ‘Ping’ Button and if yes, it will return with a string of data.

Press the Synch button again, if everything is correct, the Synced message will be green and the network is established.

From now on, all the data collected from the sensors connected to the DT Series Datalogger will be sent to the L900 RSTAR RTU wirelessly and available to view by View Pro from Logger Net software.

The DT2055B data files shown below include the key information about the sensors’ readings, the status of the devices like battery voltage, panel temperature and the strength of signal (RSSIB - dBm).

Data Files are automatically saved in a default folder in local drive, which could be changed to a shared network drive to allow multiple users to access them.
